Toying with the genres of Rap, Grime and Trap, featuring vocal samples courtesy of South London native, Jamell Rene, Mandelray takes a turn down a darker sonic road with ‘Misunderstood’. Down-tempo Lofi and industrial beats, twisted, treated guitar and backing vocal samples recycled from past recordings are all fused together in this sonic serving of music with an attitude !

The new release by Mandelray takes a left turn into some Pop styled experimentation. The songs Trap infused instrumentation blended with some soulful vocals takes it to a new place for Mandelray. The track features a male and female duet vocal created from samples, detuned in places and edited, copied and pitched into a seamless and somewhat catchy vocal performance, “not the usual way I like to work with vocals, but in the end it’s whatever works for the song”.

‘Show Me Your Love’ explores a new stylist direction in sound and song writing by Mandelray. Co-written between Robert Chomicz and Paul Atkins, the track has a Soulful Pop Rock vibe with vocals performed by Paul Atkins.

The tracks slow to mid tempo beat with it’s melodic and slightly funk inspired bassline provides a solid musical foundation for the main piano line that is the backbone to the track. The melodies are really catchy and intuitive, and more importantly, the vocal parts hit the spot, showcasing Paul’s ability to capture the true nature of his lyrics through a very honest and spontaneous performance that’s easy to relate to.

'So It Is' floats in the neutral zone between electronic, jazz and chill-out. With filtered lo-fi beats, ambient vocal soundings, rhodes like jazzy keys and a solid bass line that holds it all together, Mandelray explores another facet of creative output. Essentially an Instrumental, the tracks lyric free vocal samples manage to convey a contemplative and uplifting emotion. Along with some free flowing trumpet performances and funky guitars and keys, 'So It Is' seems to have a dream like quality while taking you on an ambient and jazz infused journey.
